The music is performed and composed by Dong Xi with a lot of free improvisation. It most closely reminds us of music from Hiroshima but slimmed down to a crisp duo, a union that produces good fruit and holds promise for much more.--D. Oscar Groomes ,O's Place Jazz Newsletter
THE GIRL FROM THE EAST
The Girl from the East is a culmination of a musical journey and features seven live pieces from Chao Tian’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) concerts at the Strathmore Mansion in April 2018. Her time as an AIR at The Music Center at Strathmore was a vital and unforgettable experience, opening up a whole new innovative world for her. From East to West, Chao has broken through boundaries with her music.
The Way is inspired by the very important philosophy of Taoism called Wu Wei, it means action through inaction and refers to the behavior that conforms to the resolution through profound thinking. This approach to a current situation will subsequently find its best way to a positive resolution of conflict.
